Inaugural Meeting of EMECC

The first CPD-accredited European ME Clinicians Council workshop took place over three days in London in February 2019. - International clinical and research experts participated in the first-ever European ME Clinicians Council on February 22–24, 2019 in London.

The EMECC conference brought together clinicians from across Europe from various disciplines to develop a European foundation of high-quality clinical expertise for this debilitating disease, for which there is much misinformation and where the lack of any effective treatment is currently deleteriously influencing healthcare agencies.

NAME

Discussions on different names used and issues behind them.

DIAGNOSIS

A comprehensive discussion on diagnosis took place including criteria used, definitions, research evidence, how doctors daignose and what tools there are to use, symptoms and signs etc.

TREATMENT (SUPPORTIVE MANAGEMENT)

Sub groups, current and possible treatment options, doages for certain drugs, clinical experience were discussed.

FOLLOW UP INVESTIGATIONS

This segment discussed what to follow, functioning in real life, pilot studies, and scales of disability were proposed.

EDUCATION

Education of doctors,medical students, a summary of ongoing research and standards.

NEXT STEPS

Many action points arose from the three day meeting. A summary of the different points, research activities, sharing of data and samples and future research. The next meeting was agreed.
